If you will, please consider this:

Starting from 1972 (the first US Presidential election during my lifetime), there have been nine Presidential elections. Democrats have won three of them; some would argue they won five, but for present purposes that doesn't matter, since they didn't control the government after the disputed elections. Some people want the Democrats to win elections so they can eventually institute some kind of national health care in the US. They want this because Republicans show no interest in instituting that kind of system here.

OK, suppose that happens and suppose that in future Democrats win six out of nine elections (an improvement over their actual record even if you believe our 43rd President stole two elections). That still means that for twelve out of the next thirty-six years your healthcare will be controlled by people who don't have any interest providing your healthcare.

This idea makes me even less inclined to have a government-run healthcare system.

It's 1:50AM on Sunday November 4th, 2007, and there will be only one more time I'll ever be able to say that (one hour from now). Renee is working on my PC, ladyofglass is telling me about the people in her life, and Sarah Jane (bunny rabbit) is eating poop.

Nobody ate the Halloween gingerbread house we all three aforementioned humans made for the Circle of Janus Procrastinators Halloween party this evening. It suffered from the awful dilemma of gingerbread house construction: nobody is quite sure if it's edible (and even eating a piece doesn't really resolve the question, does it?).

It's now 1:04AM. This blog entry has taken negative forty-six minutes to write, thanks to the magic that is Daylight Saving Time. I celebrate my extra hour.

This has been an outstanding weekend. Spent lots of time with ladyofglass (naturally), and had an excellent Saturday afternoon and evening with beldar and the_dark_snack. After dinner we went out on an expedition of my favorite September and October pastime: visiting Halloween stores!
